Prepare yourself for a perilous adventure as you lower the drawbridge to enter the Castle Master’s domain. Released in 1990 by Incentive Software, Castle Master became popular for its technical innovation and challenging gameplay. The game inspired countless 3D adventure titles, and the Freescape engine itself marked a technological milestone, enabling groundbreaking object interaction and spatial puzzles.

Notably, Castle Master was one of the first games to let you choose to play as either a prince or a princess, offering a different experience depending on your choice.

Your mission: rescue your twin, imprisoned within the eerie depths of Castle Eternity by the evil Magister. This sprawling, foreboding castle is filled with traps, monsters, and puzzles blocking your path. Gather items, unlock doors, and solve complex riddles as you navigate the labyrinthine halls and confront the dark forces within.

This modern reimplementation showcases enhanced graphics using OpenGL, with initial support for the DOS and ZX Spectrum releases. It was just 3.5 months ago when we started to prepare for this release, and now finally the day has come.

Ladies and gentlemen, please greet the one and only ScummVM 1.0.0 "Shiny Logo!" The long awaited, the most anticipated, the best... whatever.

We worked very hard on stability in this release, and in addition to all that goodness available since our 1.0.0rc1, we added a new set of ports for Motorola Linux-based phones (those on MotoEZX and MotoMAGX platforms) and fixed just a few hundred bugs.

Hacía solo tres meses y medio que empezamos a prepararnos para esta versión y al fin ha llegado el día.

Señoras y señores, ¡un fuerte aplauso al único, al inimitable, ScummVM 1.0.0 «Shiny Logo»! La versión más esperada, la más deseada, la mejor... lo que sea.

Lo hemos dado todo por mejorar la estabilidad de esta versión y, además de toda la alegría que ya hay disponible desde nuestra versión 1.0.0rc1, hemos añadido unas conversiones más para teléfonos Motorola basados en Linux (los de las plataformas MotoEZX y MotoMAGX) y hemos corregido unos cuantos cientos de fallos.

As you may have already noticed, we are in the process of switching from our old trusty logo and icons to new, slightly revised versions. The main change is that the lowercase "s" has now become an uppercase "S" -- this is meant to help stop the confusion lots of people seem to have about our name: We are called "ScummVM", and not "scummvm" :-).

Besides that, the new logo was touched up by its original author, Jean-Marc, to produce higher quality versions (in PNG and SVG format) of both the logo and the icon. As a result, they look better and yummier than ever before.

We are not yet completely done converting everything to the new logo and icon (boy, they are really present in *lots* of places), but are actively working on it. The upcoming 1.0.0 release of ScummVM will be the first to feature the new art everywhere.

So, I hope you like the new art just as much as we do :-).
Como os habréis fijado, estamos cambiando nuestro viejo y fiel conjunto de logo e iconos por versiones nuevas y ligeramente cambiadas. El mayor cambio es que la «s» minúscula se ha convertido en una «S» mayúscula. La intención es evitar la confusión que parecen tener muchas personas sobre nuestro nombre: nos llamamos «ScummVM», no «scummvm» :-).

Aparte de eso, el logotipo nuevo ha sido retocado por su autor original, Jean-Marc, para poder tener versiones a una calidad superior (en formatos PNG y SVG) del logotipo y del icono. Como resultado, tienen una pinta estupenda.

Todavía no hemos terminado de convertir todo al nuevo logo e icono (y, madre mía, sí que están en *muchísimos* sitios), pero estamos trabajando en ello. La futura versión 1.0.0 de ScummVM será la primera que tenga este diseño en todas partes.

Espero que os guste el diseño nuevo tanto como a nosotros :-).

As all of you have probably heard, we are still in the testing phase for the 1.0.0 release. So far we have gotten many testings results, because of you, our fellow users. Thanks again to all the people who have already done testing for the next release. Sadly, we are missing some tests for certain games though. Here is the list of games for which we really need some testing results:

* Elvira II - The Jaws of Cerberus
* Bargon Attack
* Goblins 3
* Bud Tucker in Double Trouble
* I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream
* Nippon Safes Inc.

If you own one of these games please grab a [daily build](/downloads/#daily) of ScummVM and play through it. Submit any bugs you discover along the way to the [bug tracker](http://bugs.scummvm.org/). When you complete a game, report it on the [forums](http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=7599) so we can add it to our [release testing wiki page](http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Release_Testing/1.0.0). Be sure to provide the version, language, and platform of the game you're testing (in addition to the name of course) as well as what platform you are testing on. Did you hear about our plans for 1.0.0? This is going to be the best ScummVM release ever! And to make it even more remarkable, we have decided to put out a Release Candidate, which is [awaiting you here](/downloads/).

It is a regular stable and supported release so don't let the name of 'Release Candidate' or 'RC1' throw you off. We have a [release testing wiki page](http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Release_Testing/1.0.0) for the upcoming 1.0.0 release, which we would like to see turned into a mass of green indicating successful removal of any issues in the titles supported, and thus we need your help, our dear users of ScummVM. It would be really great to test as many games as possible on all varieties of platforms our project is ported to.

The list of changes which are prepared for you in this release is quite long. The highlights are:

[James Woodcock](http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk), creator of the [ScummVM Music Enhancement Project](http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?page_id=54) has recently released updated versions of previously available soundtracks reaching version 2.0, which include [Simon the Sorcerer](http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?page_id=954) and [Discworld](http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?p=1958).  Discworld can now be played with the latest [SVN versions of ScummVM](/downloads/#daily) implementing James Woodcock's enhanced music.  [Inherit the Earth](http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?p=1935), which comes under his 'Fan Creation Soundtrack' is a homage to the title and is now also downloadable from his [personal website](http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/).

Available in High and Low bitrate versions, all three soundtracks are free to download and inspired by the original games and the ScummVM software.
