At 16:57 (GMT), on September 17th... I - ScummVM - will officially be a year old!
Unfortunately, nobody told me when my birthday was, they told me I was an orphan! But I'm going to try and throw a party anyway. So everyone is invited to attend my IRC channel, #scummvm, on irc.freenode.net!

If you're someone famous, or you like me, or whatever, and you want to pop in and say 'Hi!' to me and my [parents](http://www.scummvm.org/contact.php)... come on by! Or if you just want to send me a birthday card, or RSVP for the party, go over to the Contact page and e-mail Endy or someone else. Or post in my new shiny [Birthday Forum](https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=210596). We should be around pretty much all day.

If you want to actually meet a ScummVM developer in real life, and buy him (I don't have a mummy! Wahh!) a beer or something.... you can always drop a post in the [Birthday Forum](https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=210596) and see if there's anyone else in your area. I'm sure they would appreciate it!

Oh, and I lost a small, fleece sweater with three blue roses on it. If you see it, please commit it to CVS for me!

Ladies, Gentleman, Three headed monkeys, and alien mindbenders... lend me your ears.

Firstly, an update on our legal negotiations with LucasArts. We are hopefully very close to finalising our arrangement, and sometime in the next week hope to make an announcement regarding this. Of course, we had hoped to make an announcement a good month ago. Unfortunately things are rather busy at LucasArts, so it has taken a while to talk to the relevant people.

On another note, I would like to address something that comes up at least once a week. No, ScummVM is not currently in any kind of position to start supporting OTHER non-SCUMM games. The inclusion of Simon support aside, the current team has far too much on their hands trying to complete support for existing LucasArts classic adventures. Although we may add support for other games in the future, we do not currently plan on it... and any requests to do so will be promply ignored.

Unless it is accompanied by a donation of money over $2,000.

Meanwhile, we would suggest asking for help at the wonderful [VOGONS](http://vogons.zetafleet.com/) (Very Old Games on New Systems) site if you require help with other games on modern operating systems.

Anyway, that's all for the moment. Donations have been rather non-existant lately, so if you haven't already, please consider using the PayPal button under the menu on the left... and send us some cash. Currently we are using donations for legal costs, and purchasing software (such as a copy or three of [IDA Pro](http://www.datarescue.com/), as well as games some of our developers may not already have).

Πρώτα, έχουμε μια ενημέρωση για τις νομικές μας διαπραγματεύσεις με τη LucasArts. Ελπίζουμε πως βρισκόμαστε πολύ κοντά στο να οριστικοποιήσουμε το διακανονισμό μας, και κάποια στιγμή μέσα στην επόμενη εβδομάδα μάλλον θα κάνουμε μια σχετική ανακοίνωση. Φυσικά, ελπίζαμε να έχουμε κάτι ανακοινώσιμο εδώ και ένα μήνα. Δυστυχώς στη LucasArts είναι αρκετά απασχολημένοι αυτόν τον καιρό, κι έτσι πήρε αρκετό χρόνο για να μπορέσουμε να μιλήσουμε με τα κατάλληλα πρόσωπα.

Σε άλλα νέα, θα ήθελα να απαντήσω σε κάτι που μας ζητείται σχεδόν κάθε εβδομάδα. Όχι, το ScummVM δεν βρίσκεται σε θέση να ξεκινήσει να υποστηρίζει ΆΛΛΑ παιχνίδια που δεν κάνουν χρήση της μηχανής SCUMM. Εκτός από την περίπτωση της υποστήριξης του Simon, η τρέχουσα ομάδα έχει ήδη πολύ απασχολημένο πρόγραμμα στην προσπάθειά της να υποστηρίξει τα υπάρχοντα κλασσικά παιχνίδια περιπέτειας (adventure games) της LucasArts. Κι ενώ ενδέχεται να προσθέσουμε υποστήριξη και για άλλα παιχνίδια στο μέλλον, αυτή τη στιγμή δεν είναι στα άμεσα σχέδιά μας... οπότε όλα τα αιτήματα που ζητούν κάτι τέτοιο θα αγνοούνται.

Εκτός βέβαια αν συνοδεύονται από χρηματικές δωρεές που θα υπερβαίνουν τα $2,000.

Εντωμεταξύ, προτείνουμε να ζητάτε βοήθεια στο θαυμάσιο ιστότοπο [VOGONS](http://vogons.zetafleet.com/) (Very Old Games on New Systems, δηλαδή Πολύ Παλιά Παιχνίδια σε Νέα Συστήματα) αν χρειάζεστε να τρέξετε άλλα παιχνίδια σε σύγχρονα λειτουργικά συστήματα.

Λοιπόν, αυτά για την ώρα. Οι δωρεές τελευταία έχουν σχεδόν σταματήσει οπότε, αν δεν το έχετε κάνει ήδη, παρακαλούμε να χρησιμοποιήσετε το κουμπί του PayPal κάτω από το μενού επιλογών στα αριστερά... και να μας στείλετε λίγα μετρητά. Αυτό τον καιρό χρησιμοποιούμε τα χρήματα από τις δωρεές για τα νομικά έξοδα, και την αγορά λογισμικού (όπως μια άδεια ή τρεις για το [IDA Pro](http://www.datarescue.com/), καθώς και παιχνίδια που κάποιοι από τους προγραμματιστές μας μπορεί να μην έχουν ήδη).

Yes, we are still alive. Unfortunately far from being ready for 0.2.0, several people have raised a large number of critical bugs we are working through. Stick with us, we'll get their eventually!

Oh, and by the way.. if anyone knows the location of Sean Clark or any other person who scripted Sam and Max, please kidnap them and force them to explain an annoying script race in the Mystery Vortex which has kept several of us awake for the last 48 hours.

Ναι, είμαστε ακόμα ζωντανοί. Δυστυχώς απέχουμε ακόμα αρκετά από το να είμαστε έτοιμοι για την έκδοση 0.2.0. Πολύς κόσμος μας ανέφερε ένα μεγάλο αριθμό από κρίσιμα προβλήματα και δουλεύουμε για την επίλυσή τους. Με λίγη υπομονή θα τα καταφέρουμε στο τέλος!

Παρεμπιπτόντως... αν κάποιος γνωρίζει που βρίσκεται ο Sean Clark ή κάποιος άλλος που συμμετείχε στο σχεδιασμό του Sam and Max, παρακαλούμε να τους πιάσετε και να τους βάλετε να μας εξηγήσουν το ενοχλητικό αγώνα στη Δίνη του Μυστηρίου (Mystery Vortex) που μας κρατάει ξάγρυπνους το τελευταίο 48ωρο.

Thanks to several people, we have confirmed that DOTT, Sam and Max and LoomCD are all completable with no 'major' bugs in the current code. On the other hand, several serious bugs with MI2 and Indy4 have been found, so the 0.2.0 release may take slightly longer than expected.

To the coders out there, feel free to browse the bug list and take a shot at committing fixes for them. At the moment there is only one person regually working on ScummVM, so things are slow.
Χάρις σε πολλούς φίλους μας, έχουμε επιβεβαιώσει ότι τα DOTT, Sam and Max και LoomCD είναι όλα ολοκληρώσιμα χωρίς 'σημαντικά' προβλήματα στον τρέχοντα κώδικα. Από την άλλη μεριά, βρέθηκαν πολλά σοβαρά προβλήματα με τον κώδικά για τα MI2 και Indy4, οπότε η κυκλοφορία της 0.2.0 ίσως μας πάρει λίγο παραπάνω από όσο αναμενόταν.

Προς τους προγραμματιστές εκεί έξω, μπορείτε ελεύθερα να ρίξετε μια ματιά στη λίστα με τα προβλήματα και να δοκιμάσετε να υποβάλετε διορθωτικό κώδικα για αυτά. Αυτή τη στιγμή υπάρχει μόνο ένα άτομο που δουλεύει τακτικά πάνω στο ScummVM, οπότε η πρόοδος είναι αργή.

Since version 1.0.0 ScummVM supports the original cutscenes in smacker format for Broken Sword 1 and the cutscene pack below is not needed.

When using older versions of ScummVM you need to get the cutscene pack below (provided with the kind permission of Revolution Software) to replace the original smacker files. It contains video in DXA format and audio in FLAC format. The audio files are also available in OGG format as a separate download to replace FLAC files when using ScummVM on platforms that do not support FLAC audio. Audio files are available in several languages and to use them you just need to replace the English FLAC files from the cutscene pack with the files from your chosen language and format.

You may want to get the Subtitles AddOn though as it adds subtitles not present in the original game to the cutscenes.
